Atli is an engineer-in-training with a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Guelph. Prior to SCV, Atli’s consulting work was focussed on vibration and noise emissions. Through his past roles, Atli has developed as an accomplished project manager with a strong technical background, and has been focused on driving business and client satisfaction. In a past engineering support role with an IoT tech company, Atli focused on handling tough conversations and addressing customer concerns. Bringing this to the SCV team, he is well versed developing relationships with clients and creating positive customer experiences.
If Atli commits to something, you can trust that it will be done right, and on time. As a Sustainability and Engineering Consultant, Atli will be involved with SCV projects from beginning to final reports.
Outside of his (home) office, you’ll likely find Atli outside, in a canoe, on a bike or just out exploring nature.

Clayton is a dedicated consultant with a bachelor’s and a master of Applied Science in the Field of Environmental Engineering with a focus on air quality. Before his role at SCV, Clayton’s consulting work focused on waste management. In that role, he was a key contributor to solid waste management master plans, strategies, technical reviews, and feasibility studies for public and private sector clients. He is experienced in reviewing regulatory requirements, developing waste reduction programs, and developing models to forecast the effects of waste diversion programs on waste flow through municipal systems.
Clayton is always ready to support complex projects and give his unique perspective to the team. Currently, at SCV, he is supporting multiple projects of varying complexity that span across North America and Asia.

Jackie Hamilton
Lead Consultant – Leadership, Development, and Corporate Training
A senior leader in the field of education and learning development, Jackie has extensive experience facilitating the creation of impactful training programs. Her work is focused on supporting curriculum and program design, training leaders, and presenting cutting edge primary and secondary research and initiatives in the field of learning and development. Throughout her career, she has taken on several roles in educating leaders and community members. This includes being a certified International SI Trainer, supervisor, coach, and senior manager. Jackie also teaches at the University of Guelph, most notably in courses focused on leadership, failure, and communication. She has her Master’s in Education from the University of Toronto, with a specialization in student development. In addition to all of this she is involved in meaningful research focused specifically on learning development and how to create effective and impactful learning environments. Jackie also holds a global certification with the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) Network as a Facilitator and provides internationally recognized training for corporate trainers. Her experience in higher education has helped refine her strong communication, leadership development, adult learning approaches and strategic project management skills. Jackie has also led multiple large multi-stakeholder projects, including an international business school accreditation bid, a project for the development of remote learning development for COVID-19, and has led multiple international training certifications both in person and online. Jackie has worked with clients and their senior leaders to ensure each training experience is impactful and is tailored to their individual and stakeholder needs. She regularly presents at conferences and venues across North America on the topics of curriculum mapping and social and emotional skill development for professional and managerial staff.

William Gillam

William is an experienced consultant in climate change impact and renewable energy project assessment. He has a Masters of Science in Geography, from the University of Guelph, where he was an integral part of the Climate and Ecosystem Dynamics Research Lab. During his masters he investigated and quantified the impacts of governance policies, agriculture, and climate change on landscape ecology. William also worked previously as an Environmental Specialist for a renewable energy consulting firm with projects across North America and Asia. In this role he was responsible for developing due-diligence reports for proposed renewable energy projects. This included conducting intensive research into local land use, species at risk, natural and cultural heritage, indigenous communities and land claims, as well as local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations. Will has also worked in integrating resource and funding networks at community and transnational scales. The process is intensive and requires a large degree of coordination to write proposals, manage network partners, and develop action plans for network solutions. William also consults as a GIS specialist and in advanced analytics and statistics, working with local government to conduct geospatial analyses. William is also currently pursuing a Masters of International Public Policy.

With a keen interest in software development, Karan’s experience in tech has spanned a variety of industries, including consulting, manufacturing, and health and safety sectors. As a huge fan of thoughtful innovation, Karan’s passion in tech specifically involves creating tailored applications with user experience residing in the heart of the design. In addition to being a developer, Karan graduated from the Richard Ivey School of Business , which has ingrained in him the importance of clear communication and a multi-stakeholder framework when developing products. What drives Karan everyday is the goal of providing clients solutions to help maximize their core competencies.

Rebecca Garlick
Lead Consultant – Community Energy and GHG Reductions
As a climate change professional, Rebecca has focused much of her working career on strategic solutions for the public and private sector to combat and adapt to climate change impacts. Through tactical approaches and thorough stakeholder considerations and engagement, her work has resulted in multiple sustainability and climate change action plans. She has been working as a municipal and county-wide Climate Change Coordinator, where she worked with six municipalities and a county to develop their community greenhouse gas reduction plan, and updated their Energy Conservation and Demand Management Plans. In this capacity she organized stakeholder and public meetings to assist in developing strategic plans for each community. In the largely rural municipal jurisdiction, she engaged the agricultural sector, local community groups, and conservation authorities to develop strong community partnerships and ensure on-going work by each proponent for successful implementation. Through working alongside local and regional municipalities, Rebecca has developed a deep understanding of the inner workings of municipal work and the capabilities they have in developing and providing comprehensive energy and climate change plans, which she has gained through her work experience and educational career.

Houston is the lead for SCV’s culture and all canine-related services. He is a natural expert in implementing strategic empathy to achieve his and his clients’ desired results. He is a true team player, with a stout balance of inventive passion and goal-oriented motivation. This is best exemplified by his work across Ontario and Manitoba in bringing people’s spirits up, making them smile, and convincing them to give him doughnuts and apples. Houston is a rescue dog from Manitoba, and now aspires to provide thoughtful leadership to his Humans using his relentless giving nature, and compassion for others. The SCV Team can always count on Houston to be up late helping with reports, keeping guard, and being an all-round Good Boy.
