Kevin Poirier
CEO & President
Kevin is often called upon to support time sensitive and business critical projects including TCFD reporting, quantitative scenario analysis, Scope 3 GHG emissions quantification, LCAs, and carbon footprints. His work is focused on the strategic management and technical delivery of carbon pricing, climate change, and environmental services. Kevin has been completing lifecycle assessments and GHG emissions quantification since 2015 and has completed hundreds of these engagements. These have included a full spectrum of facilities including many upstream oil and gas facilities in Canada and internationally. This includes support for clients such as Suncor, CNRL, Chevron, and Petronas. Additionally, Kevin has completed the Alberta Verifier training as well as ISO 14065:2013. He is a Certified Sustainability Professional (CSR-P) and Professional Engineer.
Jessica Cassidy
Director: Clean Energy and LCA
Jessica is SCV’s Director of Clean Energy and Life Cycle Assessment, including the Clean Fuel Regulations. Known for her positive client relations and strong business development skills, Jessica has significant experience managing Life Cycle Assessment, GHG, and air quality projects across Canada, the US, and globally. Jessica is well-versed in the governing Acts and Regulations to prepare, obtain, and manage Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs) and Environmental Activity and Sector Registrations (EASRs). Her experience includes carbon intensity assessments using GHGenius and openLCA, NPRI, ChemTRAC, developing air and noise emission inventories, air dispersion modelling with AERMOD and ASHRAE, odour monitoring and reporting, liaising between clients and governing bodies, and extensive experience in greenhouse gas reporting and accredited verification for clients in a variety of jurisdictions and across a multitude of sectors. Additionally, Jessica has completed the Alberta Verifier training and the CFR Verifier Basics course examination. Jessica’s extensive experience in the CFR includes conducting dozens of verifications of reports and applications.
Mark Scaplen
Director: GHG & Climate Services
Mark has over 25 years of experience in the environmental consulting field in various senior technical and management roles. His professional expertise in air quality, environmental assessment, climate change, carbon pricing and policy projects has included work in the agriculture, energy, oil and gas, forestry, pulp and paper, mining, transportation, and manufacturing sectors, including international work on projects based in Europe and the Middle East. Mark also has ISO 14064-3 GHG Verification Training and has completed ANSI Accredited 3rd Party GHG Verifications and Validations for clients across Canada, the US, and South-East Asia.
Peter Tkalec
Director: Canada West
Peter Tkalec, P. Eng, is a Chemical Engineer with over 25 years of engineering and consulting experience across Canada and internationally. He specializes in air quality, emissions management, climate assessment, and environmental regulatory compliance, with extensive knowledge of both provincial and federal frameworks. Peter is highly experienced in Air Quality Monitoring and Measurement as well as Verification and Validation processes, and has served as a Lead Verifier, Independent Reviewer, and Subject Matter Expert for a wide range of emissions programs in Canada, the United States, and select transboundary initiatives. His work has supported regulatory reporting, compliance assurance, and environmental performance improvement. Throughout his career, Peter has partnered with clients in transportation, mining, oil & gas, pulp & paper, power generation, and other industrial sectors, delivering strategic guidance and technical expertise on complex environmental challenges.
Pooya Shariaty
Director: Air Quality and Compliance
Pooya Shariaty, Ph.D., P.Eng., is a chemical and environmental engineer with over 15 years of experience supporting industrial operations across Canada in air quality management, GHG quantification, emissions inventory development, and regulatory compliance. His work spans a range of sectors, where he helps organizations understand, measure, and manage their environmental impact.
His expertise includes atmospheric dispersion modelling, environmental impact assessment and permitting, emissions monitoring program design, and the development and implementation of mitigation strategies to manage air emissions. He works closely with clients to align technical requirements with regulatory expectations and operational realities.
Pooya has led air quality monitoring and mitigation programs nationwide. His work includes quantifying emissions, designing monitoring networks, optimizing emission control systems, and developing practical measures to improve environmental performance while maintaining compliance. He focuses on delivering clear, actionable solutions that support long term operational and environmental goals.
Aja Penny
Air Quality & Sustainability Consultant
Aja is an environmental engineering consultant with a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta. Aja has supported numerous environmental compliance projects including ambient air monitoring, landfill gas (LFG) emissions monitoring, air dispersion modelling, and emissions source testing. Additionally, Aja has experience completing various accredited greenhouse gas (GHG) verification projects under Alberta’s Technology Innovation Emission Reduction (TIER) regulation, Saskatchewan Management and Reduction of Greenhouse Gases (MRGG) Act, British Columbia’s Output-Based Pricing System (OBPS), and Ontario Emissions Performance Standard (EPS) for a variety of sectors including oil & gas, manufacturing, power generation, and waste.
Arwa Zahid
Sustainability Consultant
Arwa is a dedicated professional and an engineering consultant, with a Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto. Where she combined advanced technical research with a focus on leadership, innovation, and technology in engineering (ELITE). Arwa has previously worked on life cycle assessments (LCAs), risk assessments, and regulatory compliance reviews. At SCV, she has supported in GHG emission quantifications and verifications, and sustainability reporting for projects across various sectors.
Atli Eyvindson
Atli Eyvindson, P.Eng., is SCV Consulting’s Manager of Operations and a Sustainability & Engineering Consultant with a background in mechanical engineering and experience in manufacturing and environmental consulting. He supports greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting, verification, and NPRI reporting projects across Canada and internationally, including work under BC OBPS, the federal OBPS, Ontario EPS, and Alberta TIER, as well as corporate GHG programs for international clients. His experience includes emissions quantification, regulatory reporting, and verification support for clients in the oil and gas, mining, manufacturing, food and beverage, and forestry sectors. Atli has supported projects ranging from single-facility operations to large multinational organizations across North America, Asia, and Africa.
Bryan Rubie
Senior Consultant: Air Quality & Compliance
Bryan is an Environmental Engineer with specialized expertise in air quality and environmental compliance. His professional experience encompasses a broad range of related disciplines, including emissions quantification, dispersion modelling, ambient air quality monitoring, greenhouse gas reporting/verification, dust assessments, odour assessments, and emissions abatement and control technologies. He has managed projects for both large and small clients across various sectors, including industrial and chemical manufacturing, mining and aggregates, oil and gas, power generation, and pulp and paper.
Bryan has extensive experience completing accredited third party GHG verifications and has served as lead verifier, independent reviewer, and technical expert for verifications under various regulatory and voluntary reporting programs.
Clayton Gionet
Manager of Strategic Initiatives
Sustainability & Decarbonization Consultant
Clayton is a dedicated consultant with a bachelor’s and a master of Applied Science in the Field of Environmental Engineering with a focus on air quality. Before his role at SCV, Clayton’s consulting work focused on waste management. In that role, he was a key contributor to solid waste management master plans, strategies, technical reviews, and feasibility studies for public and private sector clients. He is experienced in reviewing regulatory requirements, developing waste reduction programs, and developing models to forecast the effects of waste diversion programs on waste flow through municipal systems.
Clayton is always ready to support complex projects and give his unique perspective to the team. Currently, at SCV, he is supporting multiple projects of varying complexity that span across North America and Asia.
Erika Strytveen
Air Quality and Compliance Consultant
Erika is an environmental engineering consultant with over four years of engineering and consulting experience. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering from the University of Alberta. Erika has several years of experience supporting accredited GHG verification projects under various regulatory and voluntary programs including British Columbia’s GHG Reporting Program and Output-Based Pricing System (OBPS), British Columbia’s CleanBC Industry Fund (CIF) and Clean Growth Infrastructure Royalty Program (CGIRP) voluntary programs, Alberta’s Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) regulation, and Saskatchewan’s OBPS. She has experience in the oil and gas, manufacturing and mining sectors.
Giovanni Di Lullo
Senior Consultant: LCA and Verification
Giovanni Di Lullo is a greenhouse gas (GHG) and life cycle assessment (LCA) specialist with over a decade of combined academic and industry experience focused on decarbonization, low-carbon fuels, and sustainable energy systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta, where he developed advanced modeling frameworks to improve the accuracy and applicability of LCA evaluations.
Giovanni is the author of six peer-reviewed journal articles and several industry reports prepared for government agencies and major energy companies. His work has supported a broad range of projects under Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR) and Alberta’s Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) program.
Jackie Hamilton
Lead Consultant – Leadership, Development, and Corporate Training
A senior leader in the field of education and learning development, Jackie has extensive experience facilitating the creation of impactful training programs. Her work is focused on supporting curriculum and program design, training leaders, and presenting cutting edge primary and secondary research and initiatives in the field of learning and development. Throughout her career, she has taken on several roles in educating leaders and community members. This includes being a certified International SI Trainer, supervisor, coach, and senior manager. Jackie also teaches at the University of Guelph, most notably in courses focused on leadership, failure, and communication. She has her Master’s in Education from the University of Toronto, with a specialization in student development. In addition to all of this she is involved in meaningful research focused specifically on learning development and how to create effective and impactful learning environments. Jackie also holds a global certification with the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) Network as a Facilitator and provides internationally recognized training for corporate trainers. Her experience in higher education has helped refine her strong communication, leadership development, adult learning approaches and strategic project management skills. Jackie has also led multiple large multi-stakeholder projects, including an international business school accreditation bid, a project for the development of remote learning development for COVID-19, and has led multiple international training certifications both in person and online. Jackie has worked with clients and their senior leaders to ensure each training experience is impactful and is tailored to their individual and stakeholder needs. She regularly presents at conferences and venues across North America on the topics of curriculum mapping and social and emotional skill development for professional and managerial staff.
Leesha Piel

Leesha holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and has over three years of experience in emissions quantification, regulatory compliance, and greenhouse gas verification under federal and provincial programs, including the federal OBPS, Ontario EPS, and Alberta TIER. She specializes in CFR verifications, carbon intensity determinations, and monitoring plan development, bringing a thorough and client-focused approach to every engagement. She has experience across the oil and gas, low-carbon fuels, electricity, and green hydrogen sectors.
Nidhi Gupta
Sustainability Consultant
Nidhi Gupta holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Waterloo, and a Master of Science in Environmental Sustainability from the University of Ottawa. Nidhi has worked in a variety of environmental sectors, with an emphasis on environmental regulatory reporting and compliance. She has worked in environmental consulting in contaminated sites and remediation work, before moving into emissions quantification and verification work under Canada’s various output-based pricing fuel standards and Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations. She has supported projects under multiple Output-Based Pricing Systems, including Alberta’s Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) regulation, Ontario’s Emissions Performance Standards (EPS), and British Columbia’s OBPS, as well as federal requirements under Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). Her work under the Clean Fuel Regulations includes verifications of Material Balance Reports and Credit Adjustment Reports, supporting facilities in credit generation and compliance with lifecycle carbon intensity requirements.
Nikki Pieterse

Nikki Pieterse is a Professional Engineer and senior clean fuels consultant specializing in greenhouse gas verification, carbon credit development, and emission reduction strategies. With 20 years of sustainability and decarbonization experience, she brings a strong technical foundation in chemical process engineering and a proven track record leading complex GHG accounting, verification, and clean fuel projects. Her background includes managing large scale emissions inventories, carbon credit methodologies, and guiding clients through frameworks such as Alberta’s Emission Offset System, Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulation, and ISO 14064 3 verification requirements. Known for her analytical rigor and pragmatic, data driven approach, Nikki helps organizations strengthen the credibility of their emissions reporting and advance practical pathways toward low carbon operations.

She holds a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, both from the University of Alberta. William Gillam
Lead Consultant: Environmental Services & Policy
William is an experienced consultant in climate change impact and renewable energy project assessment. William has worked at various consultancies in Ontario as an Environmental Specialist and has experience in renewable energy projects across North America and Asia. His role at these firms included managing and developing due-diligence reports for proposed energy projects. William’s background is in GIS and its advanced analytics and statistics and holds a Master of Science in Geography from the University of Guelph, where he was an integral part of the Climate and Ecosystem Dynamics Research Lab. During his masters he investigated and quantified the impacts of governance policies, agriculture, and climate change on landscape ecology. This included conducting intensive research into local land use, species at risk, natural and cultural heritage, indigenous communities, and land claims, as well as local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations.

Canine Relations
Houston is the lead for SCV’s culture and all canine-related services. He is a natural expert in implementing strategic empathy to achieve his and his clients’ desired results. He is a true team player, with a stout balance of inventive passion and goal-oriented motivation. This is best exemplified by his work across Ontario and Manitoba in bringing people’s spirits up, making them smile, and convincing them to give him doughnuts and apples. Houston is a rescue dog from Manitoba, and now aspires to provide thoughtful leadership to his Humans using his relentless giving nature, and compassion for others.
